This photo shows Chinese Regiment 179 preparing to go to the frontlines. The people of Taiyuan have come to the train station to bid farewell to the troops. The train’s whistle sounds, the train pushes off slowly, civilians and troops are cheering and elated. This resistance slogan is from outside of the city walls at a time when Nanjing was besieged by Japanese troops. It says [blood in return for the people’s independence and freedom] demonstrating that even though the Chinese people were less better armed, they were determined to sacrifice their lives for victory. Victims of Japanese soldiers, in the Beidaying grasslands North of Qiqihar city in Heilongjiang province; results of such atrocities could be found on a daily basis. 1936年12月31日,偽滿統治期間的齊齊哈爾,日軍政治犯監獄發生150個中國人越獄事件。日軍進行血腥鎮壓,當場射殺了20個越獄者,同時又逮捕了90個人,於隔年1月4日在齊齊哈爾市北大營草原全部處決。照片為一排日軍士兵以手槍射殺中國人的驚駭畫面。 31 December 1936. During Manchukuo era, in Qiqihar city (in Heilongjiang), 150 political prisoners attempt a breakout. To suppress this outbreak, Japanese troops embark on a vicious campaign; 20 escapees were shot on the spot, a further 90 were captured. Shortly on 4 January, in the grasslands of Beidaying, Qiqihar, all were executed. This frightening photo shows a row of Japanese soldiers killing Chinese using their firearms. |
